The Purple Gingham Shirt by Harvie & Hudson
Purple puts a modern and distinctive twist on the classic men’s gingham shirt. Ours is made from luxury two-fold cotton poplin (doubled cotton yarn produces a stronger, suppler cloth). We have cut this purple gingham shirt in a generous Classic Fit shape, and finished it with the usual Mother of Pearl buttons. The purple check works well with Lilac, Lavender and Violet complementary hues, and is one of the most charming ginghams we have ever worked with. How to wear a gingham shirt
Gingham has been worn by everyone from the mods to James Bond. The pattern can broaden a narrow chest; for a sleeker silhouette on a broad chest, wear your gingham beneath a jacket. It is such a distinctive cloth that it’s best matched to a more subtle – solid or striped – pair of trousers, unless you want to make a point of clashing. Gingham is, at the moment, somewhat underused, making it an excellent choice for those who want to update and personalise their look.
